How to apply

Since this specialization is part of the individual departmental graduate program, students must apply to each participating department for their graduate program. Please refer to each departmental web site to obtain further information how to apply for each program.


Application requirements

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Biochemistry, or related discipline. Students are required to fulfill prerequisites (or deficiency) and degree requirements imposed by the home departments. Please check the description of individual graduate program.


How to prepare for the bioinformatics specialization

Although there are no specific course requirements to apply for this specialization, if students are interested in Bioinformatics, it is generally a good idea to have enough computer literacy, and to be knowledgeable of the basic life sciences, introductory calculus, matrix manipulation, and elementary statistics. Here is a list of undergraduate core courses that students should consider taking before entering any bioinformatics graduate program.
