_____________________________________________________________________________ LISTSERV USER INSTRUCTIONS This is a very brief list of Listserv commands. A complete "General User's Guide" is available, in a variety of formats, from L-Soft International, Inc. via web at: http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/userindex.html The examples presented here are for the listserv named UNLBIOINFO However, the commands will work for any listserv on UNL.EDU if you substitute the name of the listserv you are working with in place of UNLBIOINFO. You send commands to subscribe, unsubscribe and set subscription options to Listserv, a machine which will generally respond back in a few minutes, at: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU To send information to the members (people) of the list, address e-mail to: UNLBIOINFO@UNL.EDU To send information to owner of the list, when you don't know who they are, address e-mail to: UNLBIOINFO-OWNER@UNL.EDU _____________________________________________________________________________ HOW TO SUBSCRIBE Send an e-mail message to: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU In the Message Field (NOT Subject): SUBSCRIBE UNLBIOINFO The items above are case insensitive. You can join as many listservs as you like with a single e-mail note, but only one subscribe or unsubscribe command per line. Example: subscribe unlbioinfo subscribe examplelist unsubscribe anotherlist NOTE: Do not include signature block, as Listserv will try to interpret each line as a command. _____________________________________________________________________________ HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE Send an e-mail message to: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU In the Message Field (NOT Subject): UNSUBSCRIBE UNLBIOINFO The items above are case insensitive. You can sign off from as many listservs as you like with a single e-mail note, but only one unsubscribe or subscribe command per line. Example: unsubscribe unlbioinfo unsubscribe examplelist subscribe anotherlist NOTE: Do not include signature block, as Listserv will try to interpret each line as a command. _____________________________________________________________________________ SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS When you subscribe to a listserv, your subscription options will be set to the defaults of that list. Most of the time the defaults will probably serve you well. However, you may choose to alter these settings to suit your needs. All commands are sent via e-mail to: LISTSERV@UNL.EDU and the commands are placed in the Message Field (NOT Subject): To query (view) your present settings: QUERY UNLBIOINFO To change option setting: SET UNLBIOINFO OPTION SELECTED OPTIONS For full list of options, see the guide mentioned at beginning of this message OPTION DESCRIPTION _________ _______________________________________________________________ MAIL You are sent individual postings as they are received.
