LISTSERV  OWNER  INSTRUCTIONS

This is a very brief list of Listserv commands. Complete guides for owners
and users are available, in a variety of formats, from L-Soft Intl, Inc
via web at:
       http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/

The examples presented here are for the listserv named    UNLBIOINFO
However, they will work for any listserv at UNL.EDU, if your e-mail address
is one of the owners (a listserv can have multiple owners).

As an owner, you can send commands to add, delete or review members to
Listserv, a machine which will generally respond back in a few minutes, at:
     LISTSERV@UNL.EDU

For you, or anyone, to send information to the members (people) of the list,
address e-mail to:
     UNLBIOINFO@UNL.EDU

                             ADD MEMBERS

Send an e-mail message to:
     LISTSERV@UNL.EDU
In the Message Field (NOT Subject):
     QUIET ADD UNLBIOINFO account@internet.node Firstname Lastname

Message field items are case insensitive, although you may want to capitalize
people's names. You can add and delete  as many members at once as you like,
but only one addition/deletion per line.

Example:
     quiet add    unlbioinfo jdoe@unlnotes.unl.edu John Doe
     quiet add    unlbioinfo msmith@unlserve.unl.edu Mary Smith
     quiet delete unlbioinfo account@internet.node

NOTE:

- As owner you are NOT automatically going to receive the list's mailings. If
  you want to receive them, you must add yourself to the list.
- If you do NOT use the QUIET option, then listserv will send a notice to the
  member of their addition to the list by you.
- Do not include signature block, as Listserv will try to interpret each
  line as a command.

                            DELETE MEMBERS

Send an e-mail message to:
     LISTSERV@UNL.EDU
In the Message Field (NOT Subject):
     QUIET DELETE UNLBIOINFO account@internet.node

Message field items are case insensitive. You can delete and add as many
members at once as you like, but only one deletion/addition per line.

Example:
     quiet delete unlbioinfo jdoe@unlnotes.unl.edu
     quiet delete unlbioinfo msmith@unlserve.unl.edu
     quiet add    unlbioinfo account@internet.node     Bob Jones

NOTES:

                           REVIEW MEMBERS

To review an up-to-the-minute list of members:

Send an e-mail message to:
     LISTSERV@UNL.EDU
In the Message Field (NOT Subject):
     REVIEW UNLBIOINFO            (sorts by internet node and account)

     REVIEW UNLBIOINFO BY NAME    (sorts by last name and first name)

     REVIEW UNLBIOINFO BY COUNTRY (sorts by country)
